black powder and other oxidizer mixtures will not explode when they are NOT in a closed cover. So you have to seal them kind of. well not too much, just think of a firecracker. A few layers of paper will do the job. You may put some other stuff onto this firecracker thing, like sawdust, talcum etc. ...

RE: BLOWBACK airsoft guns...worth it?
save your money and add the blowback slide in the postproduction. It is as simple as cutting out a rectangle containing the slide, then edit it in photoshop and put it back onto the timeline. Remember, it's only one frame, so it isn't a big lot of work.

RE: Various colour and film effects
Yes, of course. But it's also some kind of hype these years to color movies very greeniesh and with a low saturation in the same time. I think it started with movies like "Equilibrium" and went on until today with "sin city" etc. Especially the high contrast and low color saturati...

RE: Various colour and film effects
I am trying to get some kind of movie look by reducing the color saturation and slightly amplifying the green channel, plus by adding a little more contrast.
But usually I am not sure if this is really a god idea, or if it's only a style fashion that will be dead in a year or two.

it's a 7.5*55 Stgw57 Assault rifle, in Service until ~1990 in the swiss army. The sight was taken from a .22lr carabine, just mounted for dramatisation. The stgw57 is a nice rifle. Ordinary soldiers used it for 300 meter range, where in other armies they cal themselfes snipers with 150 Meter ranges ...

Well this putfile server never works for me. I even activated REFERRER, still no luck. My experience with muzzle flashes is: it really depends on the gun. While most 9mm pistols have a small redish flash, bigger guns may have impressive white blinding flashes. EG. a Desert Eagle in caliber .50 Actio...

Problem with models is the scale. The smaller a model is, the higher the speed of the camera should be. So you need a high speed camera to film a model scaled explosion and then play it back at 60HZ-i. You may try to film it with normal speed and then create fake-slowmotion with a tool like "mo...

Thanks. Although we try to give our best, there's still a zillion of things that are far from perfection. Well it's fun for the crew, that's most important. And yes, Jason Bourne may have inspired me too. BTW this is the same city where he used to beat up two cops who didn't let him sleep in the par...

working title DNA - wip...
Hi everybody. I just want to tell you - I'm still around and our current project (currently named DNA) is coming along nicely. It's a nobudget production and therefor the actors cannot be forced to appear on the set unlimited times etc. you know what I mean. Sometimes I'd wish to make an other take ...

RE: Building Miniatures
Problems with Miniature Fires is always the dimension of flames will tell the audience that it's a model. Your trees may look good, but the flames wont. you can cheat a little. FIrst of all you need to replay it in slow motion. It's pretty easy to interpolate Fire, when the camera don't moves or rot...

RE: Gun and shhoting effects
If you want real good FX, you may need to use 3D Software. Example given: Smoke of a gun, the shooter will then run trough the smoke, so the smoke interacts with the guys movement - you need partice FX for this kind of effect. You could make the smoke scene in a blackbox with real smoke and then Alp...

RE: Slow-Mo-Blur thing
It's a Delay. Some Editors and Tools have it built in. Technically it's pretty simple, you just see previous frames mixed to the current frame, at decreasing opacy. It's pretty simple to code this if you're familar with Video Tools coding. If you're not, you may check if there's a plugin for Avisynt...
