Yes, graphics tablets are very helpful. My parents paid for mine because I needed it for an internet class! How's that for cool! Anyhow, iCEbLuEORbitZ, EXCELLENT looking muzzle flash. I like it a lot. EDIT: Uh, ehehehe, sorry for necroing the thread. I just got the link and didn't look at the dates ...

Re: RE: diffused glow effect
No matter what experience you have I think everybody that is able to use extensive tools to enhance picture should do it in some way. I personally hate looking at nothing but washed out, digital picture that hasn't been tweaked in some way, it's just too plain and boring. True, true. But why damage...

RE: How would I create a timer?
Maybe this isn't what you're looking for, but why don't you film a timer counting down (like the glowing timer on your stove or microwave) in a dark room, and then use a lighten, screen, or similar overlay to place the counter over your video? Alternatively, you could make a digital counter, but hey...

I'd skip using water entirely like Gyro mentioned. Get a dark, dark blue backdrop, fill up the room you're in with either smoke or one of those fog machines (careful with breathing, of course. . .make sure you have air and so on), then light appropriately and just have the model in there. I believe ...

RE: Models for Explosions
As long as it's not detailed, it's pretty simple, kill-khan. Get balsa wood or something similar, score the backside of it in debris-shaped patterns. Build the house with this scored balsa. Detail appropriately. Place model in front of greenscreen, blow model up, then composite the explosion footage...

RE: A Walk in the City, compositing test.
Excellent! So excellent in fact, that I have no criticism (and that's rare for me. . .). I thought the shot at the beginning of the video was a before-composite clip, and was quite surprised to see that it was in fact a composite already. Very well done!

RE: nose blood
Alternatively, you can just start the camera, then take a swing at the actor's nose. . . .
But seriously, for "normal-nosed" actors (lol UFP), SpyroClone's suggestion about a blood tube is probably the best idea.

RE: My explosive didn
Don't make a pipe bomb unless you're actually trying to kill yourself. I'm serious. Not even if you're not going to use metal. You can blow it up putting the caps on a PVC pipe even. Pipe bombs are not to be messed with. How big is the beam? Any way you can do some "doctoring" on it before...

Yeah, The Movies looks promising. Specifically, it looks like it just might be an EXCELLENT tool for machinima (which is always a good thing!). No details are really out on the gameplay yet, so who knows how that's gonna be.

We can't comment properly until you're a little more specific about the movie. Putting your outline in the film's chronological order isn't a bad idea either (the part about the news bulletin almost seemed like an afterthought). If you want to make the movie, go ahead. What follows is my opinion and...

RE: BLOWBACK airsoft guns...worth it?
In answer to the original poster: no, EBB airsoft guns are not worth it. They cycle too slowly and don't blow back far enough. When you play it back after filming, it looks like you've slowed down some footage of a regular slide blowing back. So don't waste your money on an EBB if it's for movie use...

RE: Adding Barn Doors to Garden Lights from the Hardware sto
Shoes? What the heck? traaxx, I'm pretty sure the "pro" barn doors are metal, too, although I'm not the lighting expert here. Besides, I'm pretty sure ANYTHING you stick in front of a halogen light is going to get quite hot, there's not really a way to avoid it as far as I know. Why can't ...
