WRONG! Blanks have a plug, they do not shoot a projectile, but are technically a firearm and can cause serious injury or death. That is why any motion picture using blanks requires an armorer on set, witht he weapons at all times. Blanks are not toys, and should not be treated as such, they are a w...

Blank guns don't shoot anything, thats why it's a blank.
Very untrue. If I shot you at close range with a blank you'd probably die or at the very least need medical attention (if you didn't get any, then you would die).

Blanks also require a lot of paperwork to use on film. They're firearms, as opposed to airsoft guns.

Airsofts are also a lot safer than blanks.

Ever see "Windtalkers", that had a drum mag/vertical grip Thompson in it. It was mainly the soldiers preference, that style was just more rare.
True, but normally you shouldn't use Windtalkers when talking about accuracy ;).

nazi sentry, that thomson looks like the one associated with the mafia. then again, they might have used it in ww2
Yeah, they used them. Drum mag, forward grip and all.

The way you can tell if an M1 helmet is a WW2 manufacture or not is by the fold along the brim of the helmet. Every "steel pot" has a metal fold that folds back onto the helmet. Along the fold, there will be vertical cut called a seam. If the seam is in the front, the helment is a pre 194...

OOOOHHH!!! please post some German and American Uniform tips PLEASE!!!! I posted a big thing a while back. I understand the concept of a feild exercize, but do you guys just fire blanks at each other and use a sort of honor system where if you think you're hit, you're dead? I dont really get it. Ye...

That was a fantastic battle. We had at least one tank at the one. Though the Germans heavy weaponry and bunkers kicked our asses.

Which I am glad BoB or SPR didn't take that route. We're getting closer, but there a lot of silly things that would make no difference to the regular audience but huge boosts for history lovers.

Very true. Take Spielberg for example. In the ending, he wanted the turret to come off completely. Dye informed him that this would not be physically impossible.

I'm not saying they don't need an advisor, they simply need one who won't sacrifice accuracy for coolness.

Sure, there were a few inaccuracies. But you can't prove it would have been better without him. He made them better at impressing actual soldiers. That's his job. His job is the military advisor. By teaching them to act like Vietnam soldiers, ignore ROE and let the stupidest mistakes go in, he's fa...

Also, what do you use to hold the liner in the helmet? it keeps bouncing around while your running! Liner should fit just fine in the helmet. Wrong! Dye did nothing but improve those productions. Nah, he definetely worsened BoB by adding a bunch of cr** in. Most of the vets who saw it were very con...

Not a bad clip for testing muzzle flashes and stuff. Dunno what the Germans were doing walking in the middle of nowhere, but I guess that's not an issue... lol. Not a bad Garand either, even from the first shot it looked pretty good. Uniform top is OK, work on the pants though. Keep up the good work!

Yes, Spielberg is a total accuracy stinge when it comes to WW2 recreation.
Kind of; I'm sure if Dale Dye didn't do SPR and BoB they could have been better. Most of the stuff that was wrong in it was most likely due to him.

How about original soundtrack composer? I can do that!
Definetely. We just rip stuff from other sources but than can start to get old. That would be awesome if you could help us with that.
Can you post pics of your german uniforms and weapons if you have any?
Me?

Yes, Saving Private Ryan US uniforms were almost completely built in wardrobe for the film. Some close-up haversacks and leggings were probably real. Regardless, they're still accurate uniforms (or did I read the original post wrong... lol). Maybe not all original (not even all of my stuff is origi...

Hehe... I actually liked the music. Then again, I like 80s music in general (I'm weird like that). Most of the boat shots were models, they had a 35 foot version that could sail in the ocean. Their full size replica was just an empty shell with an engine, and it cracked in rough weather and was used...

Watched SPR the other night. Got a lot of problems, but I still enjoy it. Definately changed the look people have on history. Band of Brothers was excellent, thought it was a mini-series. But so was Das Boot, but whatever. I guess if I had to choose, I'd pick Das Boot. Probably the most realistic wa...
